Poster Canopy Beds

Maybe you are thinking about adding a new canopy bed to your bedroom.  If you are, I can't really blame you as these elegant and beautiful beds just seem to transform any room they are added to.  Now, when you decide to shop for your new king canopy bed, make sure you know the difference between this and a four poster bed.  With a four post bed they are designed so that each corner of the bed is fitted with a pole.  This serves the purpose for fitting mosquito netting over the bed to keep these and other insects away from you so you can have a peaceful night of sleep.  These four poster beds can be decorated to simulate the look of a canopy bed, and though you can get it to look much like a canopy bed it will just not be the same.

In addition, you can also find poster canopy beds that have been manufactured to look very much like a canopy bed.  They have the four poles in each corner of the bed, and you see special fabrics attached to the top of the poles that drape of the sides.  This fabric gives the bed a canopy look, and you can drape the poles with ornate and beautiful fabrics to get the exact look you desire.  You will see the poles quite often draped with frills or pleats that have amazing sceneries painted on them, or even pastel colors using a muslin fabric that has been dyed.  Many different shapes and designs can be made with these fabrics, with the result only limited to your creative abilities and imagination.

A poster canopy bed is commonly found now in the market place, as it is no longer considered to be a luxury piece of furniture.  You can find these beds in steel, iron, and other metals, but it is most often made from different types of hard woods.  Although steel makes for a heavy bed frame, wood frames can be less durable and much more difficult to maintain and require frequent polishing.

The poster canopy bed is very affordable with good availability, and you can even go online to a wide selection of shape, materials, and sizes of beds.  Quite often with the metal beds the designs will be extremely unique to the artist and manufacturer of the bed, making them special for you.  With the draping you can plan the design so that is drapes the bed in such a way to highlight the design and craftsmanship of the bed.  If you spend extra money on an ornate bed and frame, you will want to make sure you can see it.

You will also be able to easily find the appropriate bedding to match your new poster canopy bed.  If your bed is a unique design it may require that you use the services of a tailor to modify standard bedding materials.  This will cost you a bit more, but it will be worth it to make sure the bedding fits correctly.  If you are a discriminating home owner, I hope you will consider adding one of these beautiful beds to your home, and transform your master bedroom into an elegant show place.
